Ember - 3D Environment

Ember is a virtual experience with the intention of walking the player through an interactive environment where they will have to make their way out of a burning building by traversing each floor and walking through the damage caused by the user interpreted story. The ultimate goal is to find the way out completely by yourself, while also being accompanied by a short narrative scattered through cutscenes that allows the user to build their own narrative of what actually happened to the character and the scene.

The experience is played through a first person perspective, with the player in full control of where the character goes (aside from any cutscenes). The path is ultimately linear, with it being impossible to die, ensuring all players will reach the end and absorb the entire narrative. Accompanied by a slow walk, this allows the player to take in the destruction surrounding them as they slowly make their way down each floor, as the floors above them become inaccessible.

Ember builds the atmosphere through a destroyed office environment, where pits of fire surround the player along with office debris scattered around where there was once people seamlessly working minutes earlier. The player will be placed on the top floor, where they seem to be the last person within the building as there are no signs of anyone else around. The player will have to navigate slowly through each floor, making decisions on which pathways to go and interacting with parts of the building to progress further.

Overall, the intention of Ember is to isolate the user into the experience, with no prior knowledge of the building’s layout, forcing them to explore the building in a situation where time is considered limited. The experience should be played in one session with the sound on to fully engage with Ember.

Insomnia - 3D Interactive

Insomnia is a 3D experience that I have created to represent the issues and feeling I experience with insomnia. On the surface, it seems to be a cosy experience of a person laying in a bed trying to get to sleep. The user will have to hold left click to close their eyes in order to fall asleep. As they do so, they will start to experience some ambient sounds that may prompt you to open your eyes again, only to be greeted with silence.

These sounds and events are meant to be a sonic representation of my struggles getting to sleep, as constantly checking to see what they are, are actually keeping the player awake and always alert. Ultimately, there is no actual end or completion to this scene, as there is no actual passing of time when your eyes are closed.

(Coming Soon)

Infinite - 3D Environment

Infinite is a 3D interactive involving a player and a hallway. The player will be placed directly into a hallway with no immediate objective, other than to walk forward. Players may start to notice something as they walk down the hallway. Things will change, stay the same, or may not be what they seem. With simple controls, simple visuals and dark atmosphere, players can form there own interpretations on what is happening within this mysterious hallway, and why they are there in the first place.

Currently, this is an early build of this concept, which is unfinished and is missing a few features that would officially complete and achieve the final goal of this project. This includes progression, interactions, and an ending.

Feel free to try this early build by pressing the download button below.

Bonfire - 3D Model

Bonfire is a 3D model of an asset used in some of my favourite games known as the Souls series. These are placed through these games, and something you become very familiar with as you play. I found an interest in reconstructing a small diorama of these assets, of which a used reference images from these souls games. The final result is a small dungeon like scene with the bonfire's ember providing a light source in an otherwise dark space.

Using the viewer above, feel free to pan around and explore the different angles of this model. You can visit the host site of this model to have a view more options.

Alternatively, feel free to download this model yourself below, to view it in your own program or even place it in your own scenes!
